With Random Bombardment.. Turkey Exploits Ankara Events to Escalate in Northern Syria
عملية عسكرية تركية شمال سوريا/ ليفانت نيوز

Turkish forces have escalated their military operations in northern and eastern Syria, targeting scattered civilian areas with heavy artillery and air bombardment, in suspicious timing coinciding with the attack that targeted a military facility in Ankara.

The intense bombardment hit the strategic city of Kobani, which represents a symbol of Kurdish resistance against ISIS terrorist organization, and targeted the vicinity of Tel Rifaat town and rural Manbij north of Aleppo, areas in rural Tel Abyad north of Raqqa, reaching the Kojrat area in rural Derik city in the far northeast of Syria.

These attacks come within a systematic Turkish policy aimed at undermining any stability in Kurdish-majority areas, fearing its impact on Turkey's internal situation, especially with growing Kurdish demands for equal rights in future Syria.

Ankara is exploiting the attack on "TUSAŞ" military industries company, which resulted in five deaths and 14 injuries, as a pretext to escalate its military operations, in an attempt to link its internal events to the situation in Syria.

Observers confirm that Turkey ignores all international laws and conventions prohibiting targeting civilians in its military operations, using collective punishment policy against local populations in an attempt to break their will and force them to abandon their legitimate aspirations.

According to observers, the sudden escalation reveals increasing anxiety among decision-makers in Ankara about growing political and cultural awareness in Syrian Kurdish regions, and its potential impact on the already volatile Turkish internal political scene.

These operations coincide with Turkey's intense efforts to obstruct any Syrian-Syrian dialogue about the future of Kurdish regions, in an attempt to impose its unilateral vision on the Syrian scene and prevent any democratic development that might reflect on Turkey's interior.

The random bombardment policy raises serious concerns about a humanitarian catastrophe in targeted areas, especially with continued targeting of infrastructure and vital facilities, in a pattern confirming Ankara's pursuit to empty these areas of their original inhabitants.

Observers view the current Turkish escalation as aimed at undermining any self-governance project in northern Syria, in a strategy that goes beyond declared military objectives to attempting to impose new demographic and political realities in the region.
