The Governor of Sweida Reveals the Terms of the Agreement with the Druze

On Saturday, Sweida Governor Mustafa Al-Bakkour disclosed the details of the recent agreement, which reflects the stance of the Druze community, emphasizing their commitment to the sovereignty of the state and the constitution, and their recognition of the unity of Syrian territory.
Al-Bakkour explained that the initiative to hold the agreement came from the governorate, aiming to organize its legal status and re-establish order amidst increasing chaos and fears of external violations.
He confirmed that the agreement aims to dispel rumors of potential separation, asserting that Sweida is an integral part of Syria and will not accept any attempts at division or external aggression. He noted that all involved parties have engaged in intensive consultations to ensure the implementation of the agreement’s provisions, with community sheikhs and elders discussing some of its clauses, which is progressing in a satisfactory manner for all.
Al-Bakkour stated that the majority of the people in Sweida strongly reject any external interference that threatens the country's sovereignty, affirming that such acts undermine Syria’s dignity and sovereignty protected by international law. He emphasized that the Syrian government supports the governorate and works to build trust among its residents, despite some concerns that gradually arise but are gradually resolved over time.
In a related development, Sweida announced the activation of the Public Security Agency in the region, along with the deployment of security personnel to ensure safety and stability. Additionally, community sheikhs and Druze scholars issued a statement strongly rejecting any attempts at secession or disconnection from national unity, reaffirming the importance of activating the role of the Ministry of Interior and the legal police, with the condition that their personnel be from the local area to guarantee the security and stability of Sweida.
