Ahmed Al-Sharaa sends a message to Israel and demands lifting sanctions on Syria

Ahmad Al-Shara, known as "Abu Muhammad Al-Julani," the leader of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, which has led opposition factions in Syria to overthrow the Assad regime, stated that Israel must end its airstrikes in Syria and withdraw from the territories it recently occupied.

In an interview with the British newspaper "The Times," Al-Shara emphasized that the justifications provided by Israel for continuing its strikes on Syria, which relate to the presence of Hezbollah and Iranian militias, are no longer valid. He added that Israel, which seized a buffer zone after the overthrow of the Assad regime last week and advanced to Mount Sheikh, should withdraw its forces to their previous positions.

Al-Shara highlighted their commitment to the 1974 agreement, stressing their readiness to allow United Nations monitors to return to the area. He stated, "We do not want any conflict with Israel or any other party, and we will not allow Syria to become a platform for attacks. The Syrian people need a period of stability. Therefore, the strikes must stop, and they should withdraw."

He also called on the West to lift the sanctions imposed on Syria during the Assad regime, demanding the removal of the terrorist designation for Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, which is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, the UK, and other countries.

He said, "Countries must now lift this designation. Syria holds significant geopolitical importance. They should remove all restrictions placed on the victim and the oppressor. The oppressor has gone, and this issue is not up for negotiation."
