Rights Organization Discovers Mass Grave Containing 100,000 Bodies Near Damascus
A Syrian rights organization based in the United States announced that it has discovered a mass grave containing at least 100,000 bodies, believed to be victims killed by the Bashar al-Assad regime.
Reuters quoted the head of the Syrian Emergency Organization as saying that the grave site is located in the city of Qatana, approximately 40 kilometers north of Damascus. He explained that this grave is considered one of five mass graves identified over the years.
The organization confirmed that the Air Force Intelligence branch was responsible for transferring the bodies from military hospitals, noting that these victims had been tortured to death by various intelligence branches before their bodies were collected and sent to the mass grave site.
