Turkish-Backed Militias Assassinate Kurdish Worshipper in Cold Blood in Afrin
عفرين \ ليفانت نيوز

Armed elements from the Turkey-supported Sultan Murad militia targeted a Kurdish citizen in Afrin, northwest Syria, executing an assassination against Hamid Akilo, 55 years old.

The armed group led by Fahim Issa fired six shots from behind at the victim while returning from evening prayers, near his brother's house in Qorna village, Belbel district.

Local villagers quickly transported the victim to Dirsem Hospital in Afrin for autopsy and necessary police documentation to hand the body to his family for burial.

This crime coincided with arbitrary decisions issued by armed groups and settlers in the region, forcing all original male villagers, including children, to exclusively pray in the mosque.

The assassination occurs within a continuous series of violations against Kurdish citizens in Afrin, where murder crimes repeatedly occur, most registered as unidentified without serious investigations.

Afrin Human Rights Organization indicated these practices represent a systematic policy targeting displacement of original inhabitants and demographic change, supervised by armed factions loyal to Turkish occupation.

The incident confirms the continued violence and intimidation approach practiced by armed factions under the so-called Syrian National Army, National Coalition, and its interim government in areas under their control.
