The French Ministry of Culture conferred the "French National Order of Merit for Arts and Letters, Knight rank" on Syrian actress Nanda Mohammad in recognition of her talent, work in theatre in both Arab and French projects, creativity, contribution to the promotion of arts and literature in France and the world and strengthening the cultural relationship between France and Egypt.

She is the first Syrian actress to receive this medal. The French ambassador in Egypt conferred this order upon her. "I am pleased to see many of you here this evening to confer the French National Order of Merit for Arts and Letters, Knight degree, on Nanda Muhammad."

"Many things in this world have made us gather here this evening to honour the wonderful actress that you are, and we do so with a heart as big as your talent. You have now been knighted in the Letters and Arts of the French Republic. It is a tribute to your many talents and your most special struggles," he said.

"You are a high figure in the Arab theatre, everybody acknowledges your talent. You are also there in many TV series. I also salute your human and moral qualities, in your country Syria which is suffering today. Nanda! You will always be an image of rich creativity in its human dimension," he added.

"I feel proud of my artistic relationship with all the French artists and friends with whom I worked and this relationship is essential in my art life from the years of study in Syria until now in Egypt," she said. "Being a stage actor anywhere in the world, specifically in the Arab world, is a difficult and personal challenge, and my achievement is an appreciation for every Syrian artist who has something to offer in face of the difficulties our country is going through. Receiving the order at my second home Egypt which received me humanly and artistically touches my heart and compensates me for much of what I lost."
