Israeli Airstrikes Hit Southern Lebanon Amid Ongoing Tensions with Hezbollah

In a continuation of the violent confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel that have persisted for over a month, southern Lebanon experienced airstrikes on several towns today, Saturday.
Israeli aircraft targeted the towns of Qabr David, Al-Sawana, Majdel Selim, Bint Jbeil, and Shebaa, simultaneous to artillery bombardments that struck Bint Jbeil, Barashit, Majdel Selim, Aita al-Shaab, and the outskirts of Qozh Bait Lev, as well as Adaisseh.
Additionally, Al Arabiya/Al Hadath correspondent reported the launch of several rockets from the Lebanese side towards Akka and Haifa Bay. The Israeli army announced the interception of two rockets fired from Lebanon, with three others landing in open areas.
In a statement, it noted that five rockets had been detected launched from the Lebanese side.
These developments followed over 14 Israeli airstrikes that targeted various areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut yesterday, as well as strikes on the city of Sar in the south and Baalbek in the east.
Since September 23, Israel has intensified its airstrikes on various regions in Lebanon deemed strongholds of Hezbollah, near Beirut, in the south, and in the east.
Israel has also initiated what it described as a limited ground operation in the south, with its forces penetrating several border villages. However, Hezbollah confirmed that Israeli troops had not fully taken control of any border town.
The recent escalation has resulted in the deaths of over 2,670 Lebanese civilians, out of a total of at least 3,200 killed by Israeli fire since the clashes began between Hezbollah and Israeli forces on October 8, 2023.
Moreover, it has led to the displacement of over a million people from the south, the Bekaa Valley, and the suburbs.
