Hezbollah Launches Ballistic Missile at Tel Aviv Amid Israeli Airstrikes on Southern Lebanon
Lebanese official media reported on Wednesday morning new Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, as sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and areas in central Israel. Correspondents from "Al Arabiya" and "Al Hadath" reported that Hezbollah launched, for the first time, a ballistic missile towards Tel Aviv, leading Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to postpone his trip to New York to Thursday instead of Wednesday evening.
Prior to a barrage of missiles targeting southern Haifa and the Marj, most of which were intercepted, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the ballistic missile launch towards Tel Aviv, stating in a statement that it was of the "Qader 1" type and that its aim was the command center of Mossad "responsible for the assassinations of leaders and for the detonation of the Pagers and radio devices." The Israeli army followed up by publishing images showing the targeting of the missile launch platform aimed at Tel Aviv.
Earlier, the Israeli army stated that sirens had sounded in Tel Aviv and central Israel, later confirming that a ground-to-ground missile was launched from Lebanon towards central Israel and was intercepted. The army indicated that there were no changes to the civil defense instructions.
Correspondents from "Al Arabiya" and "Al Hadath" reported that a missile was directed at the Jalilout military base in central Israel and was intercepted by the "David's Sling" system.
Additionally, Israeli media reported that air defense systems intercepted missiles over Tel Aviv without any reports of damage or injuries.
