On Saturday, political components and activists in the As-Suwayda governorate in southern Syria held a conference to discuss ways to open prospects for dialogue and recognition of the rights of all Syrian components, in addition to how to implement a decentralized political system.

A "North Press" correspondent mentioned that the attendees discussed the possibility of implementing a decentralized political system amidst the current political stagnation.

The conference, titled "Meeting of Political Forces for a Democratic, Secular Syria with a Decentralized Political Character," was attended by representatives from the Federal Syria Current, Freedom and Peace, Intellectual Renaissance Movement, National Liberation, Free Independents, Jabal Al-Rayyan Organization, and Knights of the Mountain Gathering.

In a statement to "North Press," Tariq Al-Shufi, head of the Federal Syria Current, said: "We tried to deliver a message to the countries of the free world that support democracy, secularism, and decentralization, to produce a state of agreement among some political components in As-Suwayda on decentralization and the secularism of the state in As-Suwayda as one of the successful localized solutions."

During the conference, Lina Abu Hamdan, a member of the Freedom and Peace Current, emphasized the importance of implementing decentralization in As-Suwayda and working on a kind of self-administration in the region.

This conference comes in the context of ongoing efforts by political forces in As-Suwayda to search for political solutions that ensure the rights of all Syrian components and achieve a democratic and secular system.
