Mikati: The Lebanese Army Will Assume its Duties in the South After Israel's Withdrawal
قائد الجيش اللبناني

Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced on Monday that the Lebanese Army will fully assume its responsibilities in southern Lebanon following Israel's withdrawal from the territories it had invaded. This statement was made during his tour of the Lebanese Army barracks in Marjayoun, where he mentioned that a meeting would be held with the committee overseeing the ceasefire.

Mikati highlighted the importance of the Israeli enemy's withdrawal from all the territories it had invaded during the recent aggression, reaffirming the army's commitment to fulfilling its duties. He expressed confidence in the army's ability to overcome challenges and praised Army Commander General Joseph Aoun for his continuous support.

He also noted that the army, despite its limited capabilities, has managed to withstand and protect civilians, emphasizing the ongoing mission in alignment with their belief in what they are doing.

It is worth mentioning that the Lebanese Council of Ministers approved a plan for the deployment of the Lebanese Army in the area south of the Litani River on December 7, reinforcing the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, which came into effect on November 27, in accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
