Trump Appoints Mark Burnett as Special Envoy to Britain
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday the appointment of Mark Burnett, the well-known producer of his reality television show "The Apprentice," as his administration's special envoy to Britain.
At 64 years old, Burnett is the creator of the show that contributed to Trump's global fame through the dramatic moments of contestants being fired while competing for positions in his companies. His successes also extend to the creation and production of popular programs such as "Survivor" and "Shark Tank," and he has served as the chairman of MGM's global television group.
In a related context, Trump has selected businessman Warren Stephens to be the new ambassador to Britain. Meanwhile, the British government announced the appointment of Peter Mandelson as its ambassador to the United States, a move aimed at strengthening relations with the Trump administration and avoiding a trade war, while maintaining ongoing cooperation between the two countries regarding the crisis in Ukraine.
Trump stated on his social media platform, Truth Social, that Burnett will play a vital role in enhancing diplomatic relations, focusing on "trade, investment opportunities, and cultural exchange" between the United States and Britain.
