Israeli Defense Minister Responds to Projectiles Falling from Syria

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz commented today, Wednesday, on the incident of two projectiles launched from Syria that landed in uninhabited areas within Israeli territory.

Katz stated, "We consider President Ahmad Al-sharaa directly responsible for all threats and fire directed at Israel." He added clearly, "A full response will be taken as soon as possible."

The Israeli military reported that it shelled southern Syria yesterday, Tuesday, after announcing that two projectiles were launched from Syria towards Israeli territory and landed in uninhabited areas without causing damage.

In a statement, the military explained, "Israeli artillery targeted southern Syria in response to the earlier projectile launches, following sirens in the areas of Kfar Rimon and Ramat Magshimim at 21:36. The projectiles were detected crossing from Syria into Israeli territory before landing in uninhabited areas."

al-Sharaa Plans to Visit the United States and Speak at the United Nations

Kfar Rimon and Ramat Magshimim are located in the southern Golan Heights, which Israel occupied in 1967 and officially annexed in 1981.

Israeli media indicated that Tuesday’s incident marks the first such event since the fall of the Syrian regime led by Bashar al-Assad in December of last year.

Since then, Israeli forces have controlled the demilitarized zone in the Golan Heights and launched hundreds of airstrikes targeting military sites inside Syria, aimed at preventing the new Syrian regime from acquiring advanced weapons.

The Israeli military confirmed that these operations aim to maintain regional security and prevent any attempts by Syrian forces or allied militias to bolster their military capabilities.

In a statement released last Sunday, the IDF emphasized that its "defensive operations continue in southern Syria" to "dismantle terrorist infrastructure and protect the residents of the Golan Heights."
