Israel Enhances Its Level of Readiness

Amid escalating international and UN warnings about the risks of a comprehensive war and the expansion of conflict following renewed violent clashes on the Lebanese-Israeli border, the Israeli government has heightened its state of readiness.

It announced the postponement of its weekly meeting scheduled for today, Sunday, according to a correspondent from Al Arabiya/Al Hadath.

In this context, the "Home Front Command" reported that it has ordered the closure of all schools in the northern areas close to the border with Lebanon, following the launch of rocket barrages by Hezbollah earlier today. It clarified that schools and other educational institutions will remain closed until 6 PM tomorrow, Monday (15:00 GMT).

In addition, the Israeli Ministry of Health issued instructions for hospitals in the north to relocate their operations to facilities better protected from rocket and shelling attacks. It also added that Rambam Hospital in Haifa will transfer patients to its safe underground facility.

Simultaneously, clashes broke out in the Old City of Nablus in the West Bank following the Israeli army's incursion into the city.

For her part, the UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon warned that the region is approaching an "imminent disaster" amid rising tensions between Hezbollah and Israel, emphasizing that military solutions would not benefit any side. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert tweeted on X, "As the region approaches an imminent disaster, it must be emphatically stated that there is no military solution that can provide safety for any party."

This comes after Hezbollah announced earlier today that it targeted military industrial complexes belonging to Rafael, a company specializing in electronic systems and equipment located in the Zofolon area north of Haifa, with several rockets of the Fadi 1, Fadi 2, and Katyusha types, as well as the Ramat David airbase near Haifa, just hours after Israel announced it had launched extensive airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, including "thousands" of rocket launchers.
