The Israeli army spokesman, Avichai Adrei, confirmed during a visit to southern Syria, Israel's commitment not to tolerate "any threat to its security," explaining that Tel Aviv does not intend to interfere in Syria's internal affairs.

Adrei reported on Tuesday, via his account on the "X" platform, that he toured southern Syria where army units are deployed in the advanced defensive security zone inside Syrian territory, "with the aim of preventing potential threats and ensuring the security of Israeli citizens."

He added, "Our presence in this area enhances our ability to respond quickly to any security scenario that may arise as a result of the internal situation in Syria. We have no intention of interfering in Syria's internal affairs, but we will not tolerate any threat to Israel's security," according to his statement.

Earlier, a four-day mission by the Wall Street Journal reporters to southern Syria revealed the extent of Israel's influence in the region and the challenges it poses; not only for residents, but also for the emerging Syrian state, which seeks to extend its control over a country vulnerable to division along ethnic and sectarian lines.

According to the newspaper, Israel, which is establishing military positions and restricting the movement of villagers in a previously demilitarized zone, has become the most prominent and active force in southern Syria.

It mentioned that Israel's new security strategy has led to control over lands and stirred hostile feelings along the border.

These developments highlight the necessity of adopting a governance system in Syria's future that grants regions broad powers to manage their affairs and ensure their security and stability, instead of the previous centralized system that failed to protect the country's sovereignty and led to its fragmentation and the loss of its resources under the weight of multiple conflicts and external interventions.
