Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi received Ambassador Mojtaba Amani in his first official appearance since sustaining injuries in pager device explosions in Beirut in mid-September.

Signs of injury were clearly visible on the Iranian ambassador during his meeting Tuesday, where official media lenses captured eye injuries, bandages wrapping one hand, and published photos showing amputation of a finger from his other hand.

Ambassador Amani, who was recalled to Tehran for treatment following the explosion incident, is expected to return to resume his diplomatic duties in the Lebanese capital once recovered. Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath sources reported in early November expectations of Amani's imminent return to resume his responsibilities at the Iranian embassy in Beirut.

Sources reported that the ambassador underwent a series of eye surgeries enabling him to gradually regain his vision to a high degree. Sources previously revealed that Iranian authorities transferred Amani along with over 100 Hezbollah members and cadres who sustained critical injuries to their eyes, hands, and various body parts to Iran.

The simultaneous pager explosions in multiple Lebanese areas on September 17 resulted in injuries to approximately 3,000 people and dozens of fatalities, mostly Hezbollah members.

This security breach, described as the largest in the party's history, dealt it a strong shock, especially after a subsequent wave of explosions targeting wireless communication devices used by its members.

These explosions were preceded by information from informed Lebanese sources in July about Hezbollah's move to use codes in correspondences, landlines, and pager devices to evade sophisticated Israeli surveillance techniques, avoiding assassination attempts that recently targeted prominent leaders in its ranks.
