Trump Warns Biden Administration: Do Not Remove Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham from the Terror List

An informed source revealed to that the incoming administration of President Donald Trump has advised the current White House administration not to remove Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and its leader Ahmad al-Shara, known as Abu Muhammad al-Julani, from the U.S. terrorism list in the upcoming period.
The source, linked to the incoming administration, noted that Trump is seeking to ensure the accuracy of this decision before it is made, especially in light of suggestions from some Middle Eastern countries to remove the faction and its leader from the list, coupled with warnings from other countries about the potential for regional destabilization if this were to occur.
The source also clarified that the Trump administration is closely monitoring several foreign issues, including the Middle East file, and has urged the current administration to extend the "Caesar Act for the Protection of Civilians," which was signed by Trump in 2019, granting a five-year grace period for the removal of economic sanctions.
The source anticipated that the Senate may vote to extend the "Caesar Act" in the coming days, or even work on legislating a new law that aligns with developments in Syria after Trump's inauguration.
At the same time, several European governments have sent missions to Damascus, paving the way for the return of diplomatic relations with Syria under the new administration, indicating a form of reconciliation with the authorities in Damascus.
British Minister for the Cabinet Office, Mark McFadden, stated that his country may consider lifting the ban on Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, which led a coalition of armed factions that helped overthrow President Bashar al-Assad, indicating that this will depend on the group's behavior in the future.
It is worth noting that Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, which was once linked to Al-Qaeda, is banned in many countries, where it is classified as a terrorist organization, and supporting or joining it is considered illegal.
