Al-Sharaa, Plans to Visit the United States and Speak at the United Nations

According to exclusive sources, the head of the President of the current transitional phase in Syria, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, is scheduled to visit the United States in September, where he will deliver a speech at a United Nations event. This marks a significant step toward opening new channels for dialogue between the two sides.

The sources noted that this visit is part of a series of planned activities, and it will be the first time a Syrian president participates in an UN meeting in over sixty years.

**Rejuvenation of US-Syria Relations**

Recent weeks have seen a noticeable escalation in the relationship between Syria and Washington. This progress was highlighted by the meeting last month in Saudi Arabia between the Syrian transitional leader and US President Donald Trump.

Additionally, Michael Mitchell, the spokesperson for the US State Department, expressed Washington’s desire to "begin a new era" in its relationship with Syria, especially following the meeting between Al-Sharaa, and the US Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrack, in Damascus.

In a special interview with *Television Syria*, Mitchell stated that "this day was truly historic, and the US Special Envoy to Syria is executing President Trump’s commitments remarkably. This is a clear signal from the White House that the US administration aims to open a new chapter based on partnership and bilateral cooperation with Syria."

He added that President Trump "realized that the economic sanctions imposed after the fall of Bashar al-Assad are no longer effective, especially since they deprived the Syrian people of essential investments. Therefore, this new era will pave the way for increased investments and economic improvements, which will positively benefit the Syrian people and the region as a whole."

Mitchell also affirmed that US-Syria relations are expected to return to normal, especially after his statement that Syria will be removed from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.

In an important move, the US Special Envoy to Syria stated on Monday that Washington's current policy toward Syria "will not resemble the policies of the past hundred years, which proved unsuccessful." He confirmed that the US is now heading toward new, more effective policies than those of previous decades.
