Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Approves Bid to Host 2034 World Cup

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has given the green light to the Kingdom’s bid to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Monday.

This approval follows the completion of all necessary documentation, which will be submitted to FIFA in Paris, France. Representing the Kingdom at the bid presentation ceremony will be a delegation led by Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal Al Saud and President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation Yasser Al-Misehal.

The official bid process began on October 4, 2023, when Saudi Arabia, through the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, announced its intention to bid. Subsequently, the Federation submitted its official letter of intent to FIFA, revealing the bid's identity under the slogan “We grow. Together.”

The bidding period will conclude in December 2023, during FIFA’s General Assembly meeting, where the host country for the 2034 World Cup will be announced.

Prince Abdulaziz stated, “We are committed to hosting an exceptional edition of the FIFA World Cup™, which is set to include 48 teams in one country for the first time in the history of the competition.”

This effort aims to nurture a generation of athletes capable of competing at the highest global level. We will continue to showcase to the world our nation’s transformation, the potential of our young and vibrant population, and our tremendous capabilities in hosting major sporting events.”
