Recovery of Trade at Jaber Border Crossing Between Syria and Jordan
معبر جابر الحدودي

Mohammed Al-Akkad, a member of the Committee of Traders and Exporters of the Damascus wholesale market, announced that the transportation movement through the Jaber border crossing with Jordan has returned to normal. This development followed the recent visit by the Syrian Minister of Agriculture to the Jordanian capital, Amman, which resulted in the removal of obstacles that had been hindering the flow of goods.

In a statement reported by the media, Al-Akkad emphasized that the revival of commercial activity at the crossing has had a noticeable positive impact on Syrian exports, particularly to Gulf countries. The number of trucks crossing the border has increased, reaching between 12 to 20 refrigerated trucks daily, loaded with various agricultural products, including fruits, citrus, and tomatoes.

This development reflects ongoing efforts to facilitate trade and enhance economic relations between Syria and neighboring countries, contributing to economic stability and commercial growth in the region.

It is worth noting that on February 15, 2023, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi visited Damascus and met with Bashar al-Assad in an official visit, the first since 2011, as part of a foreign tour that also included Turkey to "show solidarity" following the earthquake that claimed thousands of lives.
