After the Public Dispute... Musk Moves Toward Reconciliation with Trump

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, appears to be seeking a de-escalation with former US President Donald Trump after recent public tensions and exchanges.

The conflict began when Trump harshly criticized Musk during a meeting at the White House, and both exchanged sharp attacks on Trump’s "Truth Social" platform and Musk's "X" platform.

Trump wrote that he was "deeply disappointed" in Musk due to his criticism of the tax and spending bill, while Musk responded that Trump's trade policies could lead to an economic recession, also pointing out Trump's connections with convicted predator Jeffrey Epstein, which provoked strong reactions.

Musk had also commented on Trump's threat to cancel government contracts last Thursday, posting on "X" that he would suspend the Dragon spacecraft used by NASA.

In a notable stance, Musk responded to a post from a user urging both parties to "calm down," saying, "Good advice. Okay, we won't deactivate Dragon."

Musk also showed a positive attitude toward a call from billionaire Bill Ackman, who called for "peaceful reconciliation" between him and Trump. Ackman urged both to "work towards peace for the sake of our great country," and Musk replied, "You are not wrong."

According to Politico, Trump's aides had worked to persuade him to tone down his public criticism of Musk prior to arranging their phone call scheduled for today, Friday.

After a brief meeting with Trump regarding the deterioration of his relationship with Musk, Politico reported that the former president appeared "indifferent," saying about the dispute: "Oh, it's okay. Things are going well; they’ve never been better."

The magazine also noted that Trump's aides urged him to focus on passing the tax and spending bill in the Senate, instead of engaging in a direct confrontation with Musk, which is reflected in his upcoming posts on "Truth Social" with a less confrontational tone.
