Document Represents Historic Turning Point in Syrian Revolution, First Time Gathering This Number of Syrians Around Unified Vision for Their Country's Future

Group of Syrian women and men announced launching Syrian National Charter document, step embodying historic pivotal phase in Syrian people's struggle represented by overthrowing authoritarian regime, paving way toward building democratic civil state, reflecting most Syrians' aspirations toward establishing freedom, dignity, and justice values.
Document passed multiple development stages, enjoying widest possible national discussion and dialogue among most Syrians, representing comprehensive national vision achieving democratic, pluralistic, modern Syria after years of suffering and sacrifices.
Syrian National Charter document aims establishing constitutional principles drawing Syria's future roadmap, deriving spirit from universal human values and National Charter document adopted and agreed upon by hundreds of personalities and political forces at 2012 Syrian Opposition Cairo Conference.
Document launches signed by over 4,500 Syrian citizens believing in national reconciliation, serving as comprehensive vessel accommodating all Syrians' aspirations without discrimination, responding to Syrian people's aspirations for Syrian state based on citizenship, dignity, rule of law, and human rights respect.
Document seeks achieving five main objectives: promoting freedom, justice, citizenship values; protecting Syrian state sovereignty and unity; building law state respecting human rights, protecting women, children, special needs rights; establishing democratic system based on powers separation and power rotation through free, fair elections; establishing fair, sustainable economic development rules preserving all citizens' rights without discrimination.
Document signing and text remains "open" to all Syrians. Group stated: "We invite all Syrians, inside and outside, to adopt and sign this document declaring commitment to its values and principles," and "We believe achieving Syrian people's aspirations building stable democratic state accommodating all begins with solidarity and joint work based on this national vision."
