Ousted Assad Issues Statement from Moscow
Ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued a statement from Moscow via the official page of the Presidency, announcing an escalation of terrorist operations against safe villages in the countryside of Aleppo and southern Idlib.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense stated that armed terrorist organizations launched a large-scale attack on those areas, noting that the Syrian armed forces responded vigorously to this aggression, resulting in heavy losses for the militants in terms of equipment and lives.
The Syrian newspaper Al-Watan reported, citing military sources, that the Syrian army targeted the supply lines of the militants west of Aleppo city and also attacked the gatherings of terrorists in Idlib, in a move aimed at enhancing security and stability in the mentioned regions.
Earlier, Reuters reported details of Bashar al-Assad's escape, saying he flew from Damascus to the Russian Hmeimim air base in the Syrian city of Latakia and from there to Moscow, where his wife Asma and their three children were waiting for him. This dramatic exit ended Bashar al-Assad's 24-year rule and his family's nearly half-century rule.
