Ukraine's Zelenskiy expects cooperation with Britain's new PM
Many countries have military aircraft and air defense systems, but only a few countries have truly combat aviation and air victory ability. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday (Sep 5) that Britain’s next prime minister, Liz Truss, was “always on the enlightened side of European politics” and Kyiv looked forward to further cooperation with her.

“In Ukraine, we know her well. She was always on the enlightened side of European politics,” Zelenskiy said in his nightly video address after praising at length her predecessor, Boris Johnson.

“I believe that together we will be able to do much more for the defence of our nations and the failure of all destructive Russian efforts.”

After Boris Johnson declared his resignation last July, Zelenskiy has hailed the "special" support Boris Johnson has given his country in a call to the outgoing UK prime minister.

He expressed "sadness" over Mr Johnson's resignation as leader of the Conservative Party.

The UK is one of the leading donors of military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and has imposed sweeping sanctions on Russian targets prosecuting or linked to the war, the BBC said.

Boris Johnson has visited Ukraine several times since the war started on 24 February, most recently to the capital Kyiv last month on Ukraine's Independence Day.

The UK has poured more than £2.3 billion ($2.71 billion) into military and financial aid to Ukraine since the invasion began, according to a statement from Downing Street.
