The current COVID-19 death tally in the UAE is 1,145 and the number of active cases has gone up to 7,823, NCEMA’s website revealed.

Tuesday’s figures show a sharp rise in the number of daily cases and a significant decrease in daily deaths within a one-day period. On Monday, state news agency WAM reported 2,105 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 deaths. UAE

The UAE’s vaccination drive is underway and is progressing quickly compared to other countries. According to NCEMA, 5,557,793 vaccine doses have already been administered, a high number given that the inoculation drive was only launched in December 2020.

The UAE is on track to vaccinate half the population by March 2021. As of last week, the country had vaccinated 40 percent of its population, and 48 percent of its elderly residents, NCEMA reported. UAE
