Signs of Life for Israeli Prisoners in Gaza
Israeli sources have revealed that some families of Israeli prisoners held in the Gaza Strip have received positive signals indicating that their loved ones are alive. Reports stated that the families were informed of significant progress in the negotiations, opening up a hopeful possibility to reach a preliminary agreement within a week to ten days, according to Israel's Channel 12.
The sources explained that there is optimism about the possibility of reaching preliminary conclusions in the near future. They noted that the negotiators are making efforts to bring back as many detainees as possible alive, especially during the first round of the exchange deal, which will include women and men over the age of 65.
Furthermore, Israel is working to include the wounded and sick in this initial phase of the deal, despite some obstacles related to the number of prisoners and the percentage of military withdrawal from the area.
The issue of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange is putting significant pressure on the Israeli government and Hamas amid the current circumstances. This comes in the wake of the immense destruction that has befallen the Gaza Strip due to ongoing Israeli bombardments over the past fourteen months.
It is worth noting that around 100 Israeli prisoners remain in Gaza since October 2023, while some estimates suggest that half of them may have died. In contrast, Israel has been holding thousands of Palestinians in its jails for years.
