In an official statement issued on Saturday, March 30, 2025, the Democratic Self-Administration of North and East Syria expressed its strong condemnation of the new Syrian government formed and announced in Damascus on March 29.

The administration emphasized that this government does not reflect the pluralism and diversity that Syria should embody. Instead, it continues exclusionary policies that ignore the rights and demands of all Syrian components.

The statement noted that, like its predecessor, this government concentrates power in the hands of one party, thus returning the country to square one and continuing to exclude large segments of the Syrian population.

The Self-Administration considered that these policies will only exacerbate the Syrian crisis and will not contribute to finding the necessary political solutions to end the ongoing conflict in the country.

The statement added: "The government announced in Damascus is strikingly similar to its predecessor in its disregard for Syria's diversity, meaning a continuation of exclusion and a lack of fair representation for all Syrian groups."

It also stressed that this approach contradicts the goals of the Syrian revolution, which called for real and comprehensive change that guarantees the active participation of all components in managing the country's affairs.

The Self-Administration reaffirmed its commitment to the fundamental demands for which Syrians rose, namely the building of a democratic, participatory, decentralized Syria that ensures citizens' rights and equitable participation in all political aspects of life.

It also called for an immediate end to exclusionary and marginalizing policies and a shift towards embracing all Syrian citizens from all components, religions, and sects.

At the conclusion of the statement, the Democratic Self-Administration of North and East Syria confirmed that it would not be concerned with applying or implementing any decisions issued by the new government in Damascus, as long as this insistence on repeating past mistakes continues. It affirmed that the only solution for Syria's stability is following a democratic approach that truly reflects Syria's diversity.
