Preliminary Agreement Between the Syrian Government and the Syrian Democratic Forces
علم سوريا والأكراد

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has revealed a preliminary agreement reached between the new Syrian administration and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), under which the so-called "Asayish" forces in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in Aleppo will be transformed into general security forces, reporting to the autonomous administration.

According to the Observatory, the agreement includes the release of 170 detainees from the Syrian Democratic Forces, as well as approximately 400 detainees from members of the General Security and armed factions.

The Observatory also indicated that this agreement will be conducted with American participation until it is officially announced.

Earlier, the Syrian government prohibited its forces from heading to areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) at this time. "Syrian TV" reported from a source described as private that the Syrian government has issued an internal memorandum preventing its fighters from going to "SDF" areas for the time being, fearing "individual acts".

The source added that this memorandum will remain in effect until the agreement on the handover of state institutions is implemented, and the SDF fully integrates into the government.

Moreover, the Syrian presidency announced that the Syrian Democratic Forces, which control a large part of northeastern Syria, have signed an agreement to join the new state institutions.
