Turkish media published startling information about deposed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad providing sensitive military details to Israel in exchange for guaranteeing his safe exit from Syria, as prominent Turkish journalist Abdulkadir Selvi reported details of communications between Assad and Israel from a reliable source.

The circulated information indicated that Assad provided Israel with locations of weapons warehouses, missile launch platforms, military bases, and main infrastructure of Syrian forces, in exchange for securing his journey to Russia's Hmeimim base and then to Moscow.

Assad quickly denied these claims in his first statement since seeking refuge in Moscow, confirming through the Syrian presidential Telegram channel that his departure "was not planned," and that he remained in Damascus until "the early hours of Sunday, December 8, 2024."

Following Assad's arrival in Moscow, Israel launched an unprecedented military campaign, executing more than 500 strikes on different areas in Syria, particularly concentrated on the Syrian coast, specifically Tartous city which experienced bombardment lasting more than 8 hours.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that Israeli strikes targeted air defense units and surface-to-surface missile depots, describing them as the "most violent" in the coastal region since strikes began in 2012.

A former Syrian army officer revealed Israel's first-time use of a new type of missile capable of destroying weapons stored inside mountain caves, causing explosions heard dozens of kilometers away.

Major General Kamal Al-Mousa, former director of Syrian Military Records and Mobilization, estimated the destruction of Syrian army military equipment at about 85% due to recent Israeli strikes.

These developments coincided with Israel's control of the Syrian side of strategic Mount Hermon overlooking Damascus, and its penetration into the "demilitarized zone" established under the 1973 disengagement agreement, citing national security protection.
