Reinforcements Deployed: Violent Clashes in Kharbat Al-Mu'ezah in Tartus and Latakia Countryside
Intense clashes broke out between armed locals from the village of Kharbat Al-Mu'ezah in Tartus and the internal security forces affiliated with the military operations administration after several residents refused to allow searches of their homes. The armed individuals targeted a vehicle belonging to the internal security forces, setting it on fire, while fierce fighting between the two sides continued, resulting in casualties on both sides.
In light of these developments, the military operations administration dispatched a special unit and military reinforcements to the area, while ambulances rushed to the scene amid the ongoing clashes.
In a similar incident, violent clashes occurred on December 14 in the Al-Muzayra area in the Latakia countryside between armed elements from the remnants of the former regime and fighters from "The Levant Front," resulting in around 15 casualties, both dead and wounded, among the Front's members.
The armed individuals set an ambush for the Front's fighters near the Latakia-Jabla highway, close to a villa owned by "Wasim Al-Assad," leading to confrontations with fighters from the "Jamqouq" family loyal to the former regime.
In response to this situation, the military operations administration sent a large convoy comprising fighters from the 82nd Division and the K9 Brigade, along with elements from several factions affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, heading to Latakia countryside with the aim of apprehending the armed remnants of the former regime, who are feared to be inciting unrest in the region, which has a diverse population, as well as clearing the area of weapons.
