Prosecution Rejects Delay Request for Netanyahu's Testimony

The newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" reported that the prosecution has informed the Jerusalem District Court of its refusal to postpone Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's testimony.

In the message sent by the prosecution, it stated that “the public interest in the case requires the trial to be concluded as quickly as possible. The start of the defense's arguments at the scheduled time is necessary to uphold the public interest, the integrity of the proceedings, and the fundamental principle that all are equal under the law.”

Netanyahu's defense team had submitted a request to the Jerusalem District Court to delay the Prime Minister's testimony by two and a half months, according to Yedioth Ahronoth.

The defense team attributed the need for this delay to a series of security incidents that occurred during the time given for preparing him for the trial, which, according to them, made it impossible for him to be ready to testify.

In their request submitted to the Jerusalem District Court, the lawyers cited various events that took place in recent months, including the assassination of Muhammad Deif, the killing of the six kidnapped individuals in Rafah, confrontations with Iran, and events in Majdal Shams.

This was not the first time that Netanyahu's lawyers asked for a postponement of his testimony on the charges against him. According to the "Times of Israel," a similar request was submitted last July for a six-month delay in the three cases, but it was never addressed.
