جنوب لبنان

The Israeli army announced today that it has killed Nasser Abdul Aziz Rashid, the deputy commander of Hezbollah operations in the Bint Jbeil area.

Mutual bombardments between Hezbollah and Israel continued on Saturday, with an escalation targeting the home of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while Israel bombed the "Jounieh Highway" for the first time since the current escalation began.

The Israeli army conducted airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut this afternoon, just minutes after issuing a new evacuation warning for its residents. The Lebanese National News Agency reported an Israeli airstrike that "targeted the Hara al-Harika area" in the suburbs. Footage showed smoke rising above the southern suburbs of Beirut, while the Israeli army continued to shell southern villages.

Additionally, Hezbollah announced today that it had targeted Safed in northern Israel with a barrage of rockets. Earlier, Hezbollah announced it had shelled a military base near Haifa in northern Israel today. The statement from the party indicated that it had struck the "Nashar military base east of Haifa with a large, qualitative rocket salvo," following days of declaring the launch of a "new and escalating phase" in its confrontation with Israel.

Hezbollah also stated that its fighters targeted the Haifa area in northern Israel with rockets, shortly after the Israeli army announced the launch of a series of rockets toward northern Israel, triggering sirens in several towns. The party noted that its fighters shelled "Kiryat in the north of Haifa with a large rocket salvo."

For its part, the Israeli army reported that at least 115 projectiles were launched from Lebanon toward the country on Saturday. The shells primarily targeted northern Israel, with sirens sounding throughout the region.

Israeli emergency services announced that a man was killed by shrapnel near the coastal city of Akka on Saturday, following a barrage of rockets fired from Lebanon at northern Israel. The statement noted, "Paramedics declared the death of a man in his 50s who was injured by shrapnel while sitting in his car."
