Israeli Army Intercepts Suspicious Targets from Syria Towards Golan Heights
The Israeli army announced the interception of what it described as "suspicious targets," claiming they were coming from Syria towards the occupied Golan Heights.
In a statement released via "X" on Monday morning, November 4, the Israeli army noted that the "suspicious targets" reached the Golan from the eastern direction, referring to Syria.
The Israeli army did not specify the nature of the "targets," but it is believed they were a type of suicide drone, given similar incidents that have occurred in recent days.
Hours later, the Israeli Air Force intercepted another suspicious aerial target in the Upper Galilee, which had crossed from Lebanon, as well as another target that was intercepted before entering occupied territory.
The "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" factions claimed responsibility for launching a drone towards the Golan on Sunday, November 3. The Iraqi factions did not specify the territory from which the drones were launched.
The "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" also announced that they targeted "vital objectives" in the Jordan Valley with drones on two consecutive occasions yesterday. This group consists of Iraqi factions accused by the United States of being subordinate to Iran, and they are present in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.
According to studies by the "Washington" Institute for Research, analyses suggest that these fighting groups are linked to the "Quds Force," part of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, which is responsible for coordinating between these factions.
In recent months, these fighting groups have claimed responsibility for launching drones from Iraq towards occupied Palestinian territories.
On November 2, the Iraqi factions announced strikes on four "vital" targets as part of separate operations in Eilat (Am al-Rashrash) in southern Palestine and another target in northern Israel.
On November 1, the "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" launched a drone towards Israel, and the latter reported that its air force intercepted the drone before it crossed into Israeli territory.
Additionally, the "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" claims responsibility for targeting American bases located in northeastern Syria. On October 27, a faction called "The Revolutionaries," affiliated with the "Islamic Resistance in Iraq," claimed responsibility for striking the American base in Tanf, although Washington denied the attack.
A Pentagon official told Enab Baladi on October 28 that the department had no intelligence regarding an attack on the Tanf site.
Operations against Israel claimed by militias accused of Iranian affiliation have intensified following the "Al-Aqsa Flood" campaign launched by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza on October 7, 2023.
