The Israeli army began strategic expansion of the Netzarim corridor in central Gaza, transforming it into a permanent operations base, according to Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper.

The Israeli newspaper presented photos documenting details of the strategic corridor that allows Israeli forces to control movement between the Strip's two parts. The report explained that Israeli forces strengthened their control over 56 square kilometers, intensifying observation points and enhancing defensive systems.

Logistical improvements included extending a water line from Israeli interior to meet forces' needs, and installing a communications tower ensuring complete coverage for military communications.

The newspaper reported Netzarim site's transformation into an "integrated operations base," noting the removal of hundreds of buildings in Al-Nuseirat southward and Al-Zeitoun northward to secure permanent military positions.

Israel continues strengthening its influence in the Netzarim axis, within a plan to establish military foothold in northern Gaza's heart. Data indicates Israeli leadership's insistence on maintaining the corridor, despite potential impact on calm negotiations and detainee exchange course.

Israeli officials' statements revealed that positioning strategy in Netzarim aims to prevent Palestinian fighters' movements between Strip's south and north, and establish buffer zone near southern settlements.

Israeli Channel 12 previously pointed to the corridor's importance as launching point for Israeli forces in executing rapid operations to face any potential threats.
