Emirates airline, Etihad Airways and flydubai lift mask rules for flights to UAE
Emirates airline, Etihad Airways and flydubai have announced that passengers are no longer required to wear masks on flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The three companies updated their Covid-19 protocols on Tuesday (Sep 27) following the UAE government's decision to drop mask mandates in most indoor places.
State news agency WAM reported on Wednesday (Sep 28) that it will no longer be necessary for people travelling in and out of Dubai airports to wear face coverings, as they become the latest in a list of places to drop the mask mandate.
Now Dubai International and Dubai World Central Airports have become the latest locations to follow suit and drop the requirement that was put in place to stem the spread of COVID-19.
Although airlines have the choice of asking passengers to wear facemasks, passengers flying with Emirates, flydubai and Etihad Airways are no longer required to do so, the companies say on their websites.
The UAE's crisis authority has said that face coverings will be optional in most indoor public places from Wednesday (Sep 28).

People will be required to wear masks only in places of worship, hospitals and on public transport.
The decision was announced in a televised briefing on Monday (Sep 26).
It is worthy to note that the use of masks in indoor public places has been in effect for two and a half years.
