Ebrahim Raisi: Iran will target heart of Israel if it acts against the Islamic Republic
Ebrahim Raisi

The US News reported, citing Reuters, President Ebrahim Raisi told a military parade on Monday (Apr 18) that Iran's armed forces will target Israel's heart if it makes "the slightest move" against the Islamic Republic.

Raisi said in a televised speech: "If you make slightest move against our nation ... our armed forces destination will be the heart of the Zionist regime."

Israel, which the Islamic Republic refuses to recognise, says it will not accept the Islamic Republic as "a nuclear threshold state", while Tehran and world powers have been trying to revive a 2015 nuclear pact.

Almost a year of indirect talks between Tehran and Washington were suspended last month. Israel says it will not be bound by any deal and could eventually take unilateral action against Iranian nuclear sites.

"If you make slightest move against our nation ... our armed forces destination will be the heart of the Zionist regime," Raisi says.

On Tuesday April 12, Iran's supreme leader said that his country's future should not be tied to the success or collapse of nuclear talks with world powers, Iranian state media reported, adding that the negotiations to revive a 2015 nuclear deal "are going well", the Asharq Al-Awsat reported.

Khamenei told a gathering of senior officials, state TV reported: "Absolutely do not wait for nuclear negotiations in planning for the country and move forward."
