The body of a young man was discovered murdered under suspicious circumstances by unknown gunmen inside his vehicle on Hanano Street in Tartous. According to information, the young man is from Beit Alyan village in the countryside of the governorate. This incident represents a continuation of a series of similar occurrences witnessed in several Syrian areas during recent months.
With this, the toll of victims of retaliatory behaviors and liquidations since the beginning of 2025 in various Syrian governorates has reached 479 people, distributed as follows: 464 men, 8 women, and 7 children. Fears are growing about the repercussions of these incidents on the social fabric and stability in the country.
Homs governorate tops the list of victims with 168 people, followed by Hama governorate with 99 victims, then Tartous with 57 victims, and Latakia with 35 victims. The figures indicate that most targeting cases are concentrated in specific governorates, necessitating urgent security intervention.
The incident coincides with the passage of a full month since the events of the Syrian coast that occurred on March 6, which resulted in a large number of casualties. Observers are calling for accelerating the work of investigation committees to uncover the circumstances of the crimes and hold those involved accountable.
Ahmad Al-Sharaa announced on March 9 the formation of a fact-finding committee to submit its report within 30 days. However, this committee faces criticism from victims' families and affected families due to the limitations of its work and results.
Experts warn of the danger of continuing hate speech that incites violence, especially with the spread of video clips of elements adopting fatwas justifying killing. These warnings reflect the depth of the crisis and the intertwining of its social, security, and political dimensions.
In this context, voices are rising demanding the formation of independent international investigation committees to ensure the disclosure of these violations and work to stop them, and provide protection for civilians. Maintaining civil peace and the social fabric remains the biggest challenge facing Syria in the current stage.
