Controversial Statements: Israel Overthrew Assad and Removed Iran from Syria
تصريحات مثيرة للجدل إسرائيل اسقطت الأسد وأخرجت إيران من سوريا

In an interview with the right-wing American site Breitbart, Sebastian Gorka, former Senior Director for Combatting Terrorism at the National Security Council and Deputy Assistant to President Trump, provided analyses reflecting the aggressive stance of the U.S. administration toward Syria, surpassing the official positions of the State Department.

His remarks on Syria included several key points, stating:

🔴 "No one can know for sure what will happen in Syria with the rapid developments following the fall of Bashar Assad's regime."

🔴 "The resistance leader who overthrew Assad has deep historical ties with extremist terrorist groups, which is concerning. However, on the other hand, Assad's fall has disrupted Iranian and Turkish operations in the country."

🔴 "When talking about Syria, we must understand the complexity of the situation there. I don't think anyone will shed a tear over the fall of Assad’s regime, as it was a brutal dictatorship. However, what we have in its aftermath is not true democracy."

🔴 "Currently, we have someone connected to al-Nusra Front, which is part of al-Qaeda. When this interim president talks about implementing Islamic law in Syria, it raises questions about the country's future, especially for minorities."

🔴 "The Kurds in the north, the Syrian Democratic Forces, the Turkish intervention, and the Israeli situation in the south all paint a complicated picture. If someone claims to know Syria's future, they are lying."

🔴 "We should be grateful to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israeli people for their military efforts, which contributed to the fall of Assad's regime. They have reshaped the map of the Middle East in ways that will remain entrenched for decades."

🔴 "After the fall of Assad's regime and the absence of Russia, there is no longer Iranian exploitation of Syrian territory as a corridor for conducting attacks, which is a positive change."

Gorka is considered one of the more extremist voices in the administration on national security issues, having faced numerous criticisms in the past for his anti-Islam positions, including his support for the travel ban on citizens from predominantly Muslim countries entering the United States.

Despite failing to obtain the necessary security clearance during the previous administration, it seemed that Trump had plans to compensate for this by appointing him to this high position within the National Security Council, reflecting the weight of his opinions in U.S. foreign policy.

It is worth noting that Israel destroyed all of Syria's defensive and offensive heavy weapons and equipment immediately following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad's regime.
