Chinese Deputy FM: China to boost ties with Russia regardless of international situation

The Tass news agency reported, Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Yucheng said at a meeting with Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov that Beijing plans to boost strategic partnership and cooperation with Moscow regardless of changes on the international stage.

Le Yucheng said, according to a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday (Apr 19): "No matter how the international situation changes, China will remain committed to the policy it adopted earlier, which is aimed at working together with Russia to boost strategic cooperation, implement mutually beneficial cooperation, jointly promote common interests and facilitate the construction of a new model of international relations and a community of common destiny."

The senior diplomat noted that trade between China and Russia had reached $38.2 bln in the first quarter of the year, showing about a 30% rise compared to the same period in 2021.

Le Yucheng said: "It fully indicates the great flexibility and inner strength of cooperation between the two countries."

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the parties also discussed ways to deepen cooperation within the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as the situation in Ukraine and other regional and global issues.
