Hezbollah Reinforces Its Forces by Sending 2,000 Fighters to Syria
حزب الله

A source close to the Lebanese Hezbollah reported on Saturday that the party has sent 2,000 fighters to the Syrian town of Qusayr, near the Lebanese border.

The city of Qusayr is located southwest of Homs, about 15 kilometers from the Lebanese border, and is considered a vital link between the capital, Damascus, and the Syrian coast in both Tartus and Latakia via the Orontes River basin.

Hezbollah previously intervened in 2013, supporting the Syrian army in its confrontation with armed factions, leading to victories that resulted in the breaking of those factions.

After taking control of the city, Hezbollah turned Qusayr into a military base, displacing most of its residents and preventing their return.

The city of Qusayr holds significant strategic importance for Hezbollah, as it serves as the main hub for gathering missiles and drones coming from Iran. It also contains factories for producing missile launch platforms, which have repeatedly been targeted by Israeli airstrikes.
