The Lebanese Army today took control of three military strongholds previously held by two Palestinian organizations linked to former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime, distributed between Western and Central Bekaa belonging to the "Popular Front for Liberation of Palestine - General Command," while the third site belonging to Fatah is located in the Rachaya area.

The armed forces revealed seizing a collection of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment, indicating their intention to continue taking over other military facilities occupied by Palestinian organizations inside Lebanese territory, seeking to preserve security and stability and impose state authority in all regions.

Footage released by the armed forces showed army armored vehicles storming the positions, alongside military equipment and ammunition stored inside and outside wooden boxes.

In context, a security official told "Asharq Al-Awsat" newspaper about "Army Intelligence Directorate's continuous efforts to address the issue," indicating the file's imminent complete closure, adding that "most remaining members are elderly, and their weapons and equipment have become old" according to his data.

These developments come following the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, which included dismantling unauthorized military facilities specialized in weapons manufacturing in Lebanon, and confiscating all illegal weapons starting from south of Litani.

It's worth noting a previous national consensus during the first dialogue conference held in March 2006 at Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri's invitation, to collect Palestinian weapons outside camps and organize them inside, but the decision remained ink on paper.
