Wide-Scale Sweeping Campaign to Pursue Remnants of the Assad Regime in Latakia
إدارة العمليات العسكرية

This morning, the Operations Management and the Ministry of Interior announced the start of a comprehensive sweeping operation in the Sitmerku area near the city of Latakia, in rapid response to reports from locals about the presence of elements from the ousted Assad regime's militias in the area.

The Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that the operation commenced after receiving information about suspicious activities from Assad militia members, aiming to secure the area and restore security and stability.

The campaign has resulted in the arrest of several individuals belonging to Assad's militias, in addition to detaining a number of suspects and seizing quantities of weapons and ammunition. Field sweeping operations are ongoing to ensure the safety of the residents.

This move came after a patrol from the Ministry of Interior in Tartus was attacked by remnants of the regime, resulting in the death of 14 personnel and injuries to 10 others. Last Thursday, two members of the Public Security Forces were killed and 10 others wounded due to an ambush set by regime elements in the village of Balasah in western Homs countryside.

A local source told Syria TV that the Ministry of Interior has initiated an extensive security campaign that includes several areas in western Homs, including the towns of al-Qabu and Balasah, targeting the remaining members of the ousted regime, resulting in the death of Shujaa al-Ali, the leader of the National Defense militia affiliated with the regime.
