Syria on Saturday (July 2) accused Israel of launching an air attack from over the Mediterranean, west of Tripoli, with several missiles targeting south of Tartus

The Syrian ministry of defence said that this led to the injury of two civilians and some material damage.

The Israeli attacks on Syrian military sites have occurred frequently since the outbreak of the war.

On June 6, Syrian air defence systems intercepted Israeli missiles south of the capital Damascus on Monday (June 6), with no casualties reported.

State news agency Sana reported, citing a military source: "The Israeli enemy carried out an air strike from the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting points south of Damascus," and most of the missiles were shot down.

In April, Israeli surface-to-surface missiles killed at least three Syrian officers near Damascus, said the Observatory — which has a wide network of sources inside Syria.

The monitor said at the time that the Israeli strikes were aimed at Iranian positions and weapon depots near Damascus.
