Moscow Warns Tel Aviv Against Targeting Iranian Nuclear Facilities
-
The Russian warning to Israel reflects Moscow's concerns about the escalation of conflict in the Middle East to unprecedented levels, which could threaten regional and global stability and undermine e

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov strongly warned Israel against striking Iranian nuclear facilities, describing such an action as a "catastrophic event".
Ryabkov told reporters: "We have long warned and continue to warn (Israel) against even theoretically considering the possibility of striking nuclear facilities and nuclear infrastructure (in Iran), as this would be a catastrophic development and a final cancellation of existing principles in the field of nuclear safety."
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had earlier this month indicated that carrying out threats to attack Tehran's nuclear facilities in response to the Iranian missile attack on Israel would be "a very dangerous provocative act."
Ryabkov confirmed the continuation of communication between Moscow and Tehran, emphasizing that this communication "is not based on fluctuations of political pressure and the degree of tension in the region."
He added that there is a great need for dialogue in the current situation, explaining that the goal of Russian efforts is "to find solutions that would limit the escalation of this danger and ultimately redirect related actions towards a political settlement."
On the other hand, CNN reported from sources that the United States expects an Israeli strike on Iran before the U.S. presidential elections on November 5, indicating that the Israeli attack plan is fully prepared.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured Washington that the operation would be limited to military targets and would not affect oil or nuclear facilities. For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant promised that Iran would be attacked soon, describing the anticipated response as "targeted and lethal."
These developments come amid escalating tensions in the region, raising fears of a wider conflict that could have serious implications for regional and global stability.
