Syrian Dissident Abdo Al-Mannan's Assassination Method Reflects Armed Factions' Attempts to Silence Voices Calling for Secular Democratic Syria Away from Extremism

Syrian activist Abdo Al-Mannan Abdullah was killed by "Syrian National Army" opposition militia elements, allied with HTS/Nusra Front (Al-Qaeda's Syria branch), at Defense Factory residences in Safira, Aleppo, following verbal altercation on December 2, 2024.
Syrian Communist Labor Party statement reported activist Abdo, from Fatma village in Afrin, died from gunshot to head by armed groups claiming "Syrian Revolution" affiliation.
Statement said the martyr, born 1960, graduated from Homs Electricity Institute, joined party in 1981, enduring four years political detention in Syrian regime's 1987 campaign against party.
Source noted deceased worked at Safira Defense Factory until martyrdom, describing him as solid activist, good-natured Kurd, patriotic and stubborn against dictatorship and tyranny in all forms.
Party condemned armed groups' criminal acts, denouncing all Syrian civilian killings from any side, emphasizing continued struggle for secular democratic Syria away from political tyranny and religious extremism.
Party offered condolences to martyr's family, especially brothers Imad in Syria, Ziad and Nahla in Netherlands, and wife and children Leon, Lava, and Emily in Germany.
This incident follows series of violations by armed factions in northern Syria against political activists and civilians opposing their practices and ideological orientations.
