Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Saturday that the Israeli army has achieved significant success in undermining Hezbollah's military capabilities, claiming to have changed the course of the conflict against the Iran-backed organization.

Netanyahu said in a televised speech: "We have destroyed a large part of the missile and projectile arsenal that Hezbollah built over the years," adding "We have changed the course of the war and the balance of the war."

For his part, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, General Herzi Halevi, confirmed his forces' determination to continue targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon "without mercy," saying: "We must continue to exert pressure on Hezbollah and inflict additional losses on the enemy, without concessions and without mercy."

Halevi emphasized that the Israeli army will continue to "pressure Hezbollah" and deliver "additional strikes against it," adding: "We will not grant Hezbollah a period allowing it to breathe.. No easing and no mercy in the strikes against Hezbollah."

This escalation comes as Hezbollah continues to threaten Israel's security, ignoring the potential consequences for the Lebanese people. Estimates indicate that the conflict has led to the displacement of a large number of Lebanese, estimated at hundreds of thousands.

Amid this escalation, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi pointed to diplomatic efforts to mediate for a ceasefire in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. Araghchi told reporters in Damascus: "We are trying to reach an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and in Lebanon," without revealing details of these efforts.

The continuation of Israeli military operations against Hezbollah raises fears of escalating violence in the region, with the possibility of increasing civilian casualties.

The question remains about the effectiveness of these operations in achieving long-term stability, and whether they will lead to a real change in Hezbollah's behavior and policies in the region.
