  • Israeli Defense Minister Issues Warning to Damascus Regarding Hostile Forces

  • Israeli military operations in Syria reflect a clear strategy aimed at preventing Syrian territory from becoming a launch platform for threats against border areas

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz warned Syria's interim transitional president Ahmad Al-Sharaa, stating: "If you allow forces hostile to Israel to enter Syria, you will pay a heavy price." These statements reflect growing Israeli concern about Turkish attempts to penetrate Syrian territory.

Katz emphasized in his statement that Israel will not tolerate any threat launched against it from Syria, saying: "Israel will not allow Syria to be transformed into a source of threat to its settlements or security interests."

He affirmed that "Israeli army forces will continue to deploy and operate at the summit of Mount Hermon and in security and separation zones, to ensure the protection of Golan Heights and Galilee settlements from any threat. We acted firmly yesterday when we targeted militants who tried to attack our forces."

He added: "I warn the ruler of Syria, Al-Jolani, against allowing forces hostile to Israel to enter Syria and endangering our security interests, as this will cost him a heavy price," indicating that "the operations carried out by the air force last night against airports in (T4), Hama, and around Damascus carry a clear message and warning for the future: we will not allow harm to the security of the State of Israel."

This escalation points to the danger of expansionist Turkish policies seeking to exploit the security vacuum in Syria. On the other hand, Israeli security officials reported that the raid carried out by the Israeli army in Syria last night aimed to prevent a planned Turkish control over the targeted area.

They indicated that the air force targeted the remaining military capabilities at Syrian bases in Hama and (T4), along with other military infrastructure around Damascus.

Officials stressed that the bombing resulted in the complete destruction of military airports in Palmyra and (T4), damaging aircraft, radar systems, control towers, aircraft parking areas, and warehouses. All runways were also put out of service.

During the night, forces from Brigade 474 began a military operation in the Tasil area in southern Syria, where they confiscated weapons and destroyed infrastructure used for "terrorist" purposes.

An Israeli official revealed to the Jerusalem Post on Wednesday that the recent airstrikes targeting sites inside Syria were aimed at "delivering a direct message to Turkey."
