The Xinhua reported, according to the Associated Press, the Pentagon has approved the deployment of 700 unarmed National Guard troops to Washington, D.C., as it prepares for convoys that are planning protests against pandemic restrictions beginning next week.

Modelled after recent convoy protests in Canada, separate convoys have been planned in the United States and some are scheduled to arrive in time for President Joe Biden's State of the Union address on March 1.
