UN Mission in Libya denies allowing proposals contradicting Dialogue Forum roadmap
Libya

According to the Xinhua news agency, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Saturday denied reports saying it allowed discussion of proposals contradicting the roadmap adopted by the UN-sponsored Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF).

The UNSMIL tweeted, "the mission reiterated that its role is to bring Libyans together and facilitate their discussion or mediation, provided that parties are ready for mediation and working for a compromise."

The UNSMIL reminded the LPDF and other relevant institutions to work for holding the Libyan national elections on December 24.

It is the LPDF and its members that need to act in line with the objectives of their Roadmap and work together for its objectives, the mission added.

Few months ago, the LPDF selected a new executive authority of a unity government and a presidency council, ending years of political division in the country. It also came up with a roadmap that includes general elections to be held on December 24 this year.
