The Prison Authority received a delegation from the Arab Organization for Human Rights and the Italian Human Rights Organization Hands off Cain to visit Al Marg Prison
- In the framework of the Ministry of Interior’s strategy which aims at providing all aspects of care to prison inmates in accordance with human rights standards and principles and out of the keenness of MOI to promote constructive cooperation with all organizations concerned with Human Right.. The Prison Authority received a delegation composed of members of the Arab Organization for Human Rights and Hands off Cain (an Italian Organization) with the purpose of visiting Al Marg Prison.
- During the visit the delegation examined (Visiting halls – The Prison Library – The Bakery – The Kitchen – Some of the food production factories – the vocational rehabilitation center – The Hospital). The delegation members also conversed with the inmates present at these facilities at the time of the visit, and inquired upon their living conditions, and the aspects of the care they are provided; all the inmates stressed that they were treated well by the prison administration and that they were provided all aspects of care.
- At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation members expressed their gratitude to MOI for allowing them the opportunity to undertake this visit and for the care and attention it gives prison inmates by taking into account their humanitarian, medical and social conditions and for taking all the measures to rehabilitate them to return to society as good citizens.
- The representative of Hands off Cain expressed her appreciation for allowing her to visit the prison in order to get acquainted with the different frameworks of care provided by the prison administration to the inmates
- This is a continuation of MOI’s approach to applying and developing modern punitive policy methods in a manner that guarantees the implementation of the provisions of the law and the achieving its goal while preserving the prisoner’s dignity.
