Taliban commander speaks on death of Danish Siddiqui, women in Afghanistan and other points

Clashes between the Taliban and Afghan forces

Amid ongoing conflict between the Taliban and security forces in Afghanistan, India Today TV interviewed the spokesperson of the radical Islamist group of Taliban. The commander Moulana Yousaf Ahmadi in Kandahar gave his version on some important points about the help from Pakistan, the death of Indian journalist Danish Siddiqui and ISI's instructions to target Indian assets.

According to the India Today, the spokesperson claimed, "Bismillahi Rehmani Raheem we have almost covered 85 percent of Afghanistan and will soon cover left 15 per cent."

When asked whether Pakistan's ISI is providing active support to the group, he said, "No it is propaganda by our enemies. We are and will fight this on our own."

On the issue of women in Afghanistan and women being scared of the Taliban rule, he said, the Taliban will allow all rights to them. "It is not true. We will give all the rights to the woman and people of Afghanistan that they deserve," he said.

Recently posters surfaced in most parts of Afghanistan with claims that the Taliban has put restrictions on the movement and employment of women. However, the commander of the group denied this. He said, "No, we did not put any poster for any rule or dictate. These posters are put by our enemies to defame us."

On the issue of the death of Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui who was embedded with the Afghan forces and was caught in an ambush in the Spin Boldak region, he said, "We did not kill him. He was with enemy forces. If any journalist has to come here, he should talk to us. We are already in touch with journalists in the country."

When asked why the Taliban is destroying Indian infrastructure in the war-torn country, he said, "It is also another trick of enemies to defame us. Enemy forces are destroying infrastructure during the fights. We only destroy the enemy's infrastructure like camps and posts so that they can't reuse. We don't destroy Schools and hospitals."
